WHAT IS BANTABA 104?
During October 2021, 52 people (104 feet) are invited to join the Bantaba (dancing ground), in a series of 3, FREE outdoor dance classes. The classes will culminate in a filmed performance that will be presented in the NAAADT’s second annual virtual Umfundalai Showcase and Teachers’ Ceremony on February 20, 2022. Loosely translated, Bantaba is a West African, Mandika word for "dancing ground" or a safe gathering space for the community. Bantaba 104 is a public engagement initiative created by the National Association of American African Dance Teachers (NAAADT) intended to bring the community together in a safe space offering dance technique and choreography to live music
